Ideas for owning a mamba in the future?

LeeleeMamba Dec 02, 2023 08:30 PM

I am an autistic individual and my favorite out of all the snakes is the Green Mamba. I think I should own them in the future with experts around, even though I’m not experienced with venomous reptiles.

The experts should be able to care for the Eastern green mambas and I would observe the snakes. I also think there should be an anti-venom treatment in the case of an accident.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bad idea. Mambas are for the most experienced venom keepers only. By no means aggressive, Mambas are skittish and extremely fast moving snakes, and their bites are lethal.

Having experts around taking care of you snakes actually sounds like a great idea, if you can afford to pay their salaries. Can you?

Also, injecting antivenom into your bloodstream can lead to anaphyletic shock, which may be just as life threatening as the snakebite itself, if not more. Don't try this at home.

Oh thank you so much for your detailed response. My mother feels exactly the same you do.

While a have a deep interest in Green Mambas, I realize all of the potential dangers. I'm not acting on my desires.

Best to you always!

Good call, and the same to you.

By the way, if an awesome looking green arboreal snake is what you're really looking for, then you just may want to look into the (much) safer alternatives, which are many. One of my favourites being Oxybelis fulgidus, the Green Vine Snake. Quite hard to obtain, unfortunately, but totally worth the effort. Also a display of refined taste, just as well, if not even more. I'm just saying...
