I was just wondering if anyone else's spotted turtles are extremely finicky in there eating habits. I just brought my pair in for the winter from there outdoor bog. I have them in a waterland tub, I know they are healthy turtles but there just not ravenous like most of my turtles. Maybe i got spoiled with my box and wood turtles who eat everything in site. Just wondering if there are any types of food that they really enjoy. I have been feeding worms, reptomin, and mealworms but to no avail. I guess they could be slowing down for the winter, but i was just a little concerned. thanks

While I'm certainly no expert, I'd say your outdoor turtles are just slowing down for the winter.
I have had some spotteds that eat anything, and some that were picky as hell...and some that would eat a food item one week, and refuse it the next.
They can go quite some time without food...I would'nt be too concerned.
How did they eat during the warm months?

Most of my adults haven't eaten in about three weeks. They are just getting ready for hibernation. This will be the first year I have tried to hibernate my spotties. As long as they have good weight I wouldn't worry untill spring.

I have a spotted turtle that to my knowledge has not eaten in over six weeks. She refuses to eat what I present her but she shows no sign of being sick. She may be eating vegatation that is in her set up but Ive yet to see it. I ve brought her to the vet for antibiotic and vitamin injections but still no change. I ve decided to leaver her alone until she either eats or shows signs of sickness.

Sounds like my spotters aren't unusual. In the early spring mine were extremely active basking and eating. Once the warm summer rolled in they dug into my bog and went into a summer hibernation. Sometimes I would dig them out to feed them they would eat but dig right back in afterwards. They really haven't eaten in about two months on a consistent basis. I know they are extremely heatlthy though are heavy and colorful. I guess they are just a finicky species of turtle, exact opposite of my woods.
