Painted Turtle problem

Bluejacket Mar 16, 2005 07:16 PM

My son has two Painted Turtles that he has had for about two years. The larger of the two has a bump on the side of its head that is very slowly getting larger. It is not discolored in any way and it doesn't seem to interfere with its ability to eat. Does anyone have an idea of what it might be and what might be done to treat it? Thank you.

Sounds like an ear abscess. You need to take it to a vet for treatment. It will continue to get larger and become quite painful for the turtle. You can't treat this on your own you do need a vet to do it.

Thanks for the reply honuman. Now I just need to find a vet that will treat turtles.
