Time to Show off!

FEENIEE May 22, 2005 10:10 PM

Hi everyone, I've got everything I need for my new Giant Day Gecko, but I was wanting to see how others had thier tanks set up. I have a 30 gallon right now, but I'm considering getting a taller one or one of the new cages by Exo Terra with the screen top and the opening front doors with the built in natural rock backround. (Reptile Depot has a picture but PetPro's has them in already) Any one willing to show off thier set up's and help give me some idea's?? Thanks in Advance!!!!

I cant find "PetPros" anywhere online. It looks like a cool terrarium. Can you post a URL?

You won't find them online with PetPros as they are very new. Go to ReptileDepot.com go to the cages and accesories and you will see one, although they are not for sale yet. Pet Pros want's 100.00 for the 18x18x24. The design is very cool, but the only bad part about them is the lid is made with Plastic, so it could possible melt very easily.

Yeah if you decide to get the Exo-Terra cage you would need to replace the top with something else. Not only does it present the possiblity of melting but it will also filter out the majority of UV light. I would also say a 30 gallon tank is much to small for these geckos. I think they require at least a minimum of a 45 gallon tall encloser for one gecko.

A 45 tall? Right now I have one Grandis in a 20 tall. He does fine actually, although I have been interested lately in buying him a taller, wider tank...give me some more room to play with as far as plants, rocks, vines etc. & I've been wanting to paint my room green (to match my gecko coincedintally) so a tall hexagonal tank would look pretty cool in addition to giving him more room.

I've been considering finding a female for him, possibly two, so I know I definitely need to find a bigger tank before I do that. Been interested in the Exo-Terra 18x18x24, for just the one gecko, but I'm trying to shop around some.

I'll try to post some pics of his enclosure once we get my digital cam figured out. Just "remodeled" it about a month ago. It's worked beautifully.
