Sagebrush lizard gravid????

Paullywog Jul 01, 2005 01:20 PM

My sagebrush lizard, which my friend caught about a month ago for me, seems to be gravid. Do you think the eggs are fertile or not? I don't know if I should try incubating them when they are laid, because i would have to borrow our neighbor's incubator.(I don't breed lizards or anything). Right now, I'm just bumping up the calcium and just put in a buttertub with a hole in the side and moist sand in it. Should I be doing anything different? This is a new experience for me. THanks.

I have no idea what's going on. It's more fun that way.

Your lizard's eggs are probably fertile. Last year our office sagebrush lizards laid eggs, but decided to lay them outside the nest box, it was too late by the time I found them, so keep a close eye on yours. I think that you could probably get by fine without an incubator. Just find an area of your house that stays warm and maintains a stable temperature.

I've never had newborn lizards before. I can't keep all of them, so this is a sticky situation. I don't think I should let them go. I'll see if i can make a pen in the yard. Any suggestions?

If you are interested in selling any of them, please let me know. I have a female who's companion died recently and I have been looking for a friend for her. She is about 3 years old now, and all alone in her 150 gallon aquarium, it is pitifull. My e-mail is rberryma@purdue.edu
Thanks
