am i doing everything right

janome Jul 11, 2005 05:17 PM

i recently bought a soloman island ground boa...paulsoni. i was told its a CB 2 year old.i have her housed in a 10 gallon tank with green carpet then paper towels over that. i just have a 25 wt incandecent light on one side of the tank that is on a timer. temp is near 80 under the light. our room temps are in the 77 degree range.
she has a couple hide boxes and paper towel rolls for cover. a branch and fake plant , more for me to look at then a empty tank. then 2 little water dishes (they are big enough for her to soak if she wants). i've read they love to soak but i have never seen mine in or near the water. there is no evidence on the paper towel such as wet areas to say she is soaking.
she does eat a f/t fuzzie every 7-10 days which is great from what i've read.
i was just wondering if i should be doing something else as far as her enclosure or just leave things as is since she is eating and seems to be ok. she is great with handling. thanks.

Your setup sounds ok to me. The fact that she's eating regularly is a good sign. As for soaking, my experience is that sometimes they stay in the water for days and sometimes stay out of it for weeks at a time. It's just important that the water be there so they can use it when in the mood. In the future you might want to give her a little more room when she gets larger but that's a few years off.
