He acts a bit clumsy, but he has no trouble going in his cave and going up to float when he wants. He doesn't turn down supper, but I've cut his food level a bit. (He's 4.5 yrs old)
Thanks for any input !

that is bloating disease my friend.
It the frog has been living for some time with the condition, it is non acute bloating (bloodworms are very notorious), caused by a bad diet, wrong osmotic pressure, or prescence of viruses. I had a xenopus female that had it for several years before she finally died. ;(
I suggest contacting your vet and ask about Baytril to treat it.
Thanks for the feedback. He has slowly developed this, so I knew it was the non-acute. I don't have a herp vet near that treats ADF's. I am treating him with SERA OmniPur which I got from the UK. He's been on it for 2 days. I lowered his water level, and am changing his water nightly. He is fairly active, I just wish I could get the swelling down. I was going to try Maracyn II next. I don't know if I can get any Baytril. I hear the FDA has locked it. I too have seen Xenopus like this for a long time. Thanks again - let me know if you have any other suggestions.
i even used the strong stuff called Kanacyn, and it didn't do much. Baytril must be injected I believe. you're going to have to talk to your vet for details.

I know this is an old post, but I shake my head at home remedies like this... the bloating is likely from renal failure in which case many of these medications you're using will shorten the lifespan. What will antibiotics do? Is their a goal with the shot gun approaches mentioned? Going to a vet and asking for a drug is the wrong approach. Try going to a vet and asking for his/her opinion of what is wrong and what they will prescribe for treatment.
Don't be surprised if you have to drive a bit to go to a vet that will see your ACF but is it not worth it? Go to www.arav.com and/or it's link to herpvetconnect for a list of herp vets around the world. You can also ask local vets for referals.
