So I already have a problem with my baby yellow foot

bunke10 Oct 16, 2005 07:53 PM

So yesterday my baby yellow foot had trouble opening his eyes after a nap, but I misted him with warm water, and he was able to get his eyes open. Then today I had to run a warm clean wet q-tip over his eyes to get them open after his nap. Once his eyes were open he ate, drank, was very active. Other than this he seems very healthy. I think i remembered seeing eye drops for turts and torts in the pet store will this help? Thanks in advance for help!

Is there a certian kind of squash? He has been fed mostly mazuri until I got him so it is hard to get him to try new things any hints? He also avoids food with supplements on it! Thanks!

Add as little H2O to Mazuri as possible- enough to soften it- then you add shaved carrots. I use a food processor so it's all chopped up into small shaved pieces. My Leonardo gobbles it up! carrots are the best for eyes.

You must provide a more humid environment for this species. At the very least you should be providing a warm, extra humid place for it to rest in.

I have him on eco earthwhich i just put in 3 days ago so it id still very damp which I spray if it starts to dry out. He also gets soaked everyday in warm H2O....What else can I do. Can this be a sign of parasites? I really want to help this little guy get better! Thanks a lot.

If you haven't had a fecal done on the tortoise, you should.
It is always a good idea with a new tortoise no matter where the animal came from.

If you are providing all that humidity you might try going the other way in that you should provide dry areas for the tortoise to escape the humidity.

The humidity is too low and the animal requires more hydration. Try soaking your little tortoise in shallow water once a day until this improves.
