Took one I knew would be quick and easy by M C Beaton with a Scottish rural policeman, Hamish Macbeth. Great fun. One of those "popcorn" books that don't last long but are satisfying.

Meant to ask if you were familiar with him or Kate Sedley's books (set in Old England) They're a nice change of pace and some of the settings are charming. Did you ever check on a Dana Stabenow book (set in Alaska)?
