For one, we do not have a right to slander people with abuse until after they have had their day in court. If we, as the frontline of animal welfare, can not act with respect and compassion then we do a disservice to our community by creating the conditions where people in need of rescue will avoid contact with us and thus unintentionally inspire animal abandonment.
