As with just about everything else regarding this issue, the "irresponsible owner" stereotype has little to no evidence, logic or common sense to support it. Have a few idiots released pythons and other snakes into the wild? Sure. Is there evidence to support that it is typical or even mildly common? No. Another thing to consider is that if snake owners were so irresponsible, there would be ball pythons and boa constrictors all over the place!
