Hi,

I spend most of my time on here browsing posts but need some expert advise.

I fed my female blood a rat 1 week ago. the morning after she ate (i went to bed mid way through her swallowing) i noticed that it looks like her jaw has slipped to the left, resulting in her right jaw being under the roof of her mouth and the left side sticking out to the left. this also means that her breathing hole (sorry dont know the correct term!) is permanently out of her mout, hanging to the left.
she doesnt seem to be in any pain and has just gone to blue, so i dont think she will try to eat again.

Ive waited a week to see if she re-alines but hasnt/cant. Ive read lesewhere to see how she goes after a feed. any thoughts??

the jaw bone on the right does seem to have a kink but I cannot rule out that it is just dilocated and not broken without xray. before i spend lots of money on xrays i just want to run it by you all.

thanks for reading, sorry its a bit long n no pics...........

Sounds like a severe misalignment from the feeding.

Honestly, I'd get her to the vet ASAP.

Can you post pictures?

offer one more rat, that might fix it since it just happened after feeding..im not a vet, but thats what i'd do

Thanks for the responses,

I appreciate that I may end up at the vets, just have a feeling that the vet i use is happy to keep treating for problems that dont really exist (past experience!)

I also think trying one more rat would be worth while so i think i'll give it a go.

Ive uploaded pics now so if that affects anyones opinion shout up!

thanks again,

Man just looking at those pictures makes me cringe, and I missed the feeding part.

DO NOT FEED THAT ANIMAL AGAIN.

VET VET VET VET VET

I'd be REAL surprised if that animal doesn't develop Mouth Rot from this after your vet fixes it.

are they on newspaper?
I'd try to pop open it's mouth, maybe it's a fat lip and it got caught on teeth.
I never seen anything like it, but i do know that sometimes it looks worse than it really is.
So if you have a vet, or if your comfortable with this snake see if you straighten jaw out with tweezer(don't use force)..remember I am not a vet, but I have seen a crappy vet do more harm than good too.

here's my # if you want to fill me in on more details maybe we can trouble shoot this 719-332-9838

Thanks for the replies guys.

I think that the pics make the situation look a little worse than actually is!

I'm gonna try a feed today, even though she still has blue eyes! she sometimes takes when in slough so we'll see................

i'll let you know how i get on.....
