swollen leopard gecko

kulkat Mar 13, 2011 12:59 PM

Taking care of my daughter's geckos while she is away at college, I have posted plenty times on different kingsnake forums so I hope I remember how to do a picture. Anyway, Roxie is about 7-8 years old, now has a bump under her left eye, and face, near her throat.
Will take her to the vet but only problem is I only have one available afternoon this week to do it and not sure if the reptile vet works that day too, so, figure maybe someone here can look and offer suggestions in the meantime?

Wow, I've never seen anything like that before. My guess would be a cyst or tumor...given her age. Did she have any signs of infection? Fluid around the eye? Sometimes when they shed the skin will stick around the eye and cause swelling and watery eyes.

Best of luck!

Ouch!! That doesn't look comfortable at all.

Is there a sign of any cut or anything around the swelling? If there is, it may be an abscess that needs to be drained. I would try to get the little one to a vet soon as you can. They can give you a better diagnosis and probably some gecko antibiotics to bring that swelling down.

Good Luck!!

Well unfortunately she died tonight. And...its my daughters birthday too. so haven't told her yet. She was old too, about 8.
She was walking around the tank this afternoon around 5, with her head up high too, for some reason do not think the lumps were infections of some sort, or at least not the cause of her death.
Thanks anyway everyone.
