These guys aren't only "leaking information." They are creating hysteria based on misleading statements, which is the exact opposite of what science is all about. In fact, it's very possible that these python SCIENTISTS, RESEARCHERS and "conservationists" are actually injurious to the ecosystem. Just think how many people, after reading articles where a PhD Professor Emeritus implies that pythons are going to eat people and take over 1/3 of the country, are going to chop up the next snake the see in their yard? How many people's fears and phobias are being reinforced after seeing the "Python Wars" and "Monster Quest" shows? And that latter part of the comment (ie, taking over 1/3 of the country) is based on a bogus study that was released BEFORE any real life data/experimentation was even attempted? This is not science, folks. This is anti-science. And yes, this pisses me off to no end, since I do educational presentations with my snakes at schools and museums to try to help people GET OVER THEIR IRRATIONAL FEARS and PHOBIAS. (And, btw, I don't own any of the "big 9".) [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Hide Replies ]
